Review: The All Natural Face Vegan Mineral Eyeshadow - Orange Ice Storm

My thoughts and experience:
This vegan mineral eyeshadow in Orange Ice Storm is one of the goodies I received in my Beauty Box 5 in July. It came in a small zip lock bag with an eyeshadow sponge wand. The eyeshadow is in a small jar with a sifter and lid.

Orange Ice Storm is a very shimmery, metallic silver color when applied. I can't help but notice that the color in the jar looks different. In the jar, it looks like a light peachy shimmer color. It applies smoothly and is easy to use. Just shake some of the eyeshadow through the sifter onto the lid. I think this is a great color to use on the inner corners of your eyes or you can also use it on your brow bone as a highlighter.

[natural light, no flash L: swatched once R: swatched 3x]

[with flash, L: swatched once R: swatched 3x]

The mineral eyeshadow lasts about 6 hours (with use of primer) before it starts to crease. This color in particular is pretty pigmented.

Overall, I think this is such a great price for vegan mineral eyeshadow. I will consider purchasing another color to try out!

Review: Anastasia Beverly Hills - She Wears It Well palette

My thoughts and experience:
I received this palette along with 5 face chart cards. Anastasia Beverly Hills' She Wears It Well palette is a gorgeous neutral palette containing 6 shimmer shades and 3 matte shades of eyeshadows. The exterior is like a "leather type" material, and looks very chic. The palette is closed together by a magnet.

The staying power on these shadows are about 8 hours (with primer) before I start seeing creases. The shimmer and matte colors have little to no fall out when applied. I find that the matte colors tend to blend easier than the shimmer colors; they both apply smoothly. The colors in the palette are very versatile, which is probably my favorite thing about this palette. They can worn dry or wet, and you can wear them alone or mix it up for a bolder look.
L-R: Trophy, Glow, Latte, Foxy, Sunset

 L-R: Frosting, Onyx, Almond, Toffee

The brush that comes with the kit is a little small to use as an eyeshadow brush. It makes a decent eyeliner brush or even for blending in the creases. The added mirror is a nice little extra for people on the go.

Overall, I love this nude/neutral palette. The prices come to $3.78 per shadow which is very decent! It's a great palette to add to your collection if you like simplicity and versatility. I can do super easy looks for work in a matter of minutes.

Review: Revlon ColorStay 16 Hour Eyeshadow

Retail Price:Starting at $7.49

Where to buy:  Most mass retailers and drugstores, www.revlon.com

My thoughts and experience:
This four quad eyeshadow by Revlon is very versatile. You can achieve both day and night looks easily. On the back of the quad, it gives you an idea on how you can incorporate all four colors into look. To be honest, the one time that I followed it, I turned out looking like a drag queen with raccoon eyes (LOL!). So after that experience, I just decided to do my own thing and use two colors at a time.
The pigmentation of the colors are ok, I wouldn't say it's the most pigmented nor the worse. The colors applied smoothly, but I did find myself having to dip my brush back into the eyeshadow a couple of times to get the desired result. There was little to no fall out when I use it. Here are some swatches done on my arm:
[I used a Q-tip to swatch this, I went over it a couple of times so you can see the color]

The staying power is about 6-8 hours before I start to see it get messy. Keep in mind, I do use a primer with my eyeshadow because my eyelids are super oily.

Overall, I think you get what you pay for with this eyeshadow quad. I've used it a couple of times on my short and lazy days because the colors are easy to match up and go well with each other.

What about you? Have you tried any of Revlon's quad eyeshadows?

Review: Anastasia of Beverly Hills Beauty Express brow kit

What is it?
All-in-one kit Beauty Express for Brows and Eyes

Retail Price:$39.50

Where to buy:  anastasia.net

My thoughts and experience:
I received the brunette Beauty Express brow kit to test out. The kit contains a mirror, brow wax cream, duo brow powder,  eyeshadow duo, 5 stencils, and an angled eye brush.

My first attempt went something like this -
I was trying to decide which stencil will fit me the best. I ended up using the medium arch. Although it may not match up directly to the shape of your brow, you can tilt it a certain way on the half way point to match it up.

I used the angled brush to apply the brow wax cream over my brows to help them stay in place. Then, I placed the stencil over my brow and used the angled eye brush to fill it in with the darker portion of the duo brow powder. As you can see, for my first time, when I filled it in, one of the brows was a little crooked. This definitely takes practice!

This helped me define my brow shape while I plucked the strays and try to shape it according to the stencil. I plucked a couple of extra hairs here and there.

I've been using this kit almost every single day, seriously. Well, the colors, atleast. I don't do my brows everyday :P I love this kit for the simplicity of the colors, it helps to make my morning routine quick and easy. I use the matte shadow for base, the highlight part on the brow bones, and the lighter brow powder on the outer corners of my eye for something extra. Then I use the brow brush to lightly fill in my brows with the darker color.
Here's the final result:

It would have been so awesome if the kit came with small scissors and/or tweezers, since those are two tools that are needed for brow grooming. Overall, I think this is a great kit for everyday use. It's great for women who like the natural look. The kit that I tested is best suited for medium to dark hair. They also have a kit for blondes.

Review + Swatches: Urban Decay 15 Year Anniversary Eyeshadow Collection

What is it?
"Opulent and sleek, this gunmetal filigree treasure chest holds 15 NEW (as in never seen) shades in honor of Urban Decay's big 15. Neutral shimmers, brights hypnotize and darker hues lend high-impact depth. Lift the shadow tray to reveal a sumptuous velvet-lined compartment for your jewelry... or whatever else you're hiding."

Retail Price: $55

Where to buy: www.urbandecay.com, www.sephora.com,

My thoughts and experience:
Once again, Urban Decay has outdone themselves. This is a gorgeous and fun palette with highly pigmented eyeshadow colors. The packaging is off the chains! It's encased in a metallic filigree piece, there's velvety bottom area, in which you can remove the "palette" part and use for something else. The outer top cover has a gem-like "UD" on the mirror-like cover. It was really hard to get good pictures because of the metal part reflecting off the flash from my camera, but I tried.

Onto the shadows, all these are new colors for their 15 year anniversary.  All the colors are extremely pigmented and most of them are quite bold. UD never ceases to amaze me with their colors. They stay on all day without smudging with a primer, and about 4 hours (on my super oily lids) without a primer.
The set is little pricey, but to me, it is totally worth the money for quality colors and also the cute keepsake box for later. Here's the swatches:

Midnight Rodeo, Midnight 15, Vanilla, Flow, Chase

Tainted, Junkshow, Omen, Evidence, Deep End

Deeper, M.I.A., Ace, Blackout, Half Truth

You'll be seeing some eye looks with these babies!
What do you think of their new palette?

Review: Smashbox Limitless Beauty Kit

What is it?
"You asked for stay-put products, we’re delivering in one must-have kit. It’s all you’ll need to stay chic from dawn till dusk—no reapplying necessary. Free step-by-step guide."

Retail Price: $39.00

Where to buy: www.smashbox.com

My thoughts and experience:
Photo Finish foundation primer:
This stuff is amazing! All you need is a small pea size amount, less is more in this case. Once I apply the primer on my clean face, I can immediately feel the smoothness and velvety feeling upon touch. It created an invisible layer, and it helped my foundation stay on much longer! I usually have to blot a couple of times a day, but with the primer, I blot once during a whole work shift (usually 8+ hours). It makes my skin appear smoother and also make up application easier. This is definitely something I will use over and over!

Limitless Beauty Eye Shadow Palette & Brush:
I like the different neutral colors offered in this palette. To me, it seems like I could do more night looks than I would with day looks - alot of neutral and smokey eyes, that's for sure. The eyeshadows stayed on without creasing into each other for about 4 hours without primer and over 10 hours with a primer. I mainly used the brush to apply shadow to upper and lower lash lines only because it was such a little brush.

Left to Right -
Matte vanilla: used on brow bone for highlight, color is not pigmented, very light and barely visible.
Rose Copper: used on lid, shimmery and has a metallic effect, pigmented, has slight fall out.
Purple Taupe: used on outer corner, upper and lower lash line, has a slight shimmer, very pigmented.
Champagne: used on lid, shimmery and has a metallic effect, pigmented, has slight fall out.
Matte brown: used on outer corner, upper and lower lash line, matte, very pigmented.

Limitless Eye Liner in Java:
The eyeliner is a smooth, coffee brown color. It goes very well with my brown eyes (with or without eyeshadow). I love that it doesn't smudge and can easily stay on well over 8 hours.

Blush Rush in Everlasting:
A soft, happy pink color. It's a buildable blush color that is easy to blend with a brush. It doesn't look cakey at all and looks very natural. This color is suited for people with light to medium complexions, as it is not very pigmented.

Limitless Long Wear Lip Gloss SPF 15 in 'Round-the-Clock:
A light pink lip gloss. The wand applicator makes it easy to apply on lips. The formula is not thick, but it is definitely sticky and glossy. I think this is more suited for people with light complexion, as the color doesn't really show up on my lips very much. This goes very well with the palette that is included in the set. It stays on for a good 6 hours without eating/drinking.

Tada!!~
I used all of these products included in the beauty kit to finish this look. I also used foundation, eye primer, and mascara that was not included.

Tutorial: Easy brown eyes look

It's been a while since I've done one of these tutorial looks. This one is just a very simple brown eye looks. You can substitute the colors to what you have to create the same look. I find that this look really makes my brown eyes POP, and it's a quick and easy to do look for everyday wear.

1. Prime your lids. Priming your lids before eyeshadow application makes the eyeshadow stay crease free, and not smudge. This is the most important step for me, because I have really oily eyelids!

2. Apply a light brown color (similar to your skin tone) all over your lid. I used Urban Decay's Suspect.

3. Apply a darker brown color to the corners of your lid up to half way, and a little bit above your crease area. I used Orglamix's Chai.

4. Apply a highlighter color from your crease to your brow bone, something that is very sheer. I used Ulta's baked eyeshadow in Taken.

5. Apply a dark brown eyeliner above your eye, and also on the lower waterline. I only went 2/3 of the way because I have small eyes and did not want to make them look even smaller. I used Urban Decay's 24/7 pencil liner in Crash.

6. Curl your lashes and apply mascara. I used Revitalash Mascara.

That's it!

Other products used on face:
Orglamix foundation - teak
MAC Hello Kitty beauty powder - pretty baby
Hard Candy Hide & Glow cheek tint - Hot Date (lighter side)
Bigelow Apothecaries lip tint - bare mint

What do you think? I hope this simple look was helpful to you.
Have a great week! I have a bunch of Kiss product reviews lined up this week.

Review: Everyday Minerals MINI eyeshadows - Diary and In The Garden

What is it?
Everyday Minerals products are free of nanotechnology, carmine, dimethicone, fragrance, animal by products, bismuth oxychloride, silicone and lake dyes. We are a vegan line, offering high quality mineral makeup at a price affordable to all women. - Everyday Minerals

Price: $7

Where to buy: Everyday Minerals website

My thoughts:
Yay for vegan and all natural makeup! The packaging is very simple, a lid to seal, and a sifter to keep the eyeshadow from going all over the place. I simply tap some eyeshadow on the lid, swirl my eyeshadow brush, and apply. Application of this eyeshadow is velvety and smooth. I received two samples of these eyeshadows - Diary (a velvety lilac with shimmer) and In The Garden (pearly antique brown). I really love the Diary color, lilac colors usually do not show up on my skin very well. But this one looks really nice when applied. The pigmentation is good; both colors are very blendable and buildable for a more intense color. These two colors are actually very wearable together, I received many compliments when I had these two colors on - people said it looked very "natural". When applied without a primer, it stayed on my eyes for about 3-4 hours before I saw creasing (I happen to have super oily lids). However, with a primer, it stayed on all day without creasing or smudging. Overall, the price is wonderful, the jar is plenty, and the quality of the shadows are decent.

Packaging: 10/10
Ease of Use: 10/10
Quality: 7/10
Price: 10/10

Have you guys tried Everyday Minerals? Any favorite colors? They do have free samples of the foundation bases, well sort of free.
