Review: Montagne Jeunesse - Chocolate masque

My thoughts and experience:
They had me at chocolate... seriously! I like the idea of the single packs because they're less messy, travel friendly, and a great way to try out the product without having to purchase a whole thing. Once opened, it contained a thick whipped-cream-like mixture. It was super easy to spread on my face and smelled like semi-sweet chocolate. There was left over in the pack, almost enough to share the mask with someone else.

 [yummy]
I left it on for about 30 minutes to let the mask completely dry. It got a little messy while I was washing off the chocolate masque. Afterwards, my face felt really soft and hydrated. I definitely will be purchasing more of these in the future. I've seen that they have a bunch of different ones at Walmart.

Review: Reviva Labs Hawaiian Seaweed Face Mask

What is it?
"An excellent deep cleansing, normalizing mask for all skin types. Helps skin achieve proper oil/moisture balance. "

Retail Price: $12.00

Where to buy:  www.revivalabs.com, GNC, Vitamin Shoppes, Whole Foods, Ulta.

My thoughts and experience:
Hi lovelies! I had the opportunity to test out another mask by Reviva Labs! This mask has a very pleasant floral scent. It's very light and didn't bother me at all. It has a very creamy texture, which made it easy to apply directly from the tub. Simply apply a medium layer with clean fingers.

During this time, I notice a little tingling feeling, mostly on my cheek area. I also feel a slight tightening sensation throughout the 30 minute process.  After the wait, I take a warm towel and water to rub off the mask. It's hard to do it without a towel, because it doesn't rinse off easily. Afterwards my face feels very soft and moisturized.

I would definitely recommend this face mask!

Review: Reviva Labs Light Skin Peel

What is it?
""Peeling" is a European term for one of the most unique European items in the entire cosmetic field. THIS IS NOT A HARSH CHEMICAL PEEL. It doesn't "peel skin" as we know it, but gently lifts off more hardened, dried skin cells than can be achieved by scrubs or any other "exfoliating" product. Dead-cell accumulation prevents treatment products from penetrating and keeps skin tone from looking fresh and vibrant. For aging and problem skin, PEEL is absolutely vital; it offers multiple benefits, which one can see and feel with just one application. Used by Europe's top Skin Treatment Specialists as a supplementary cleansing step in any skin care program. Any skin type, any age, can benefit from a once-a-week "Peel". Our Peel ingredients also stimulate the deeper new cells to move upward at a faster rate - causing the skin surface to look tighter, clearer and healthier." - via website

Retail Price: $20 for 1.5 oz

Where to buy:  www.revivalabs.com, GNC, Vitamin Shoppes, Whole Foods, Ulta.

My thoughts and experience:
I know, the name is a little confusing. I thought it was an at-home chemical peel too. This was a very interesting product; it's a mix between an exfoliator and a peel mask.  It feels like an exfoliator when you use it, but you it's really a mask that you peel! The mixture is in a plastic container sealed with a screw top.

[applied on clean face]

Simply apply a thin layer of this stuff with clean fingers. The mixture has grainy texture and looks like it is mixed with some crushed up dried leaves. It applies easily and is non sticky. It has a very strong medicinal scent, which reminds me of Chinese herbal stuff. The first time I used it, the scent was extremely overwhelming. After the first time, I got used to it and did not mind so much.

During this time, I could feel my face getting tighter. After about 15-20 minutes, it's hard to move my face because of the tightness. By then, you know it's time to peel! It feels like picking pieces of handmade paper off your face, that's the fun part.

[dried and ready to peel, my face was so tight, I couldn't even smile for the picture]

I can see noticeably smaller pores, and my face feels soft and moisturized. I really look forward to using this product once a week!

 [peeled!]

Have you tried this mask yet? What's your favorite peel mask?

The brightening, skin-renewing formula is packed with powerful antioxidants and nourishing, detoxifying seaweed. Retail Price: $38

Where to buy: www.blissworld.com, Sephora

My thoughts and experience:
It was a neat little experience being able to mix my own mask together. I felt like a little alchemist, lol. It was easy to do, and does not take too much time. [1] I open the packet, and pour the contents into a small mixing bowl. [2] Then I used the provided measuring spoon and fill it with water, and poured it into the  bowl. [3] I use the wooden spatula to mix up the contents with the water, and it becomes this goopey paste. I use the spatula to apply the mask onto my face. It's mess-free when you use the spatula.

When applying the mask, I can feel the coolness as I spread it on my face. A trick is to apply a thick goopey layer so that when you get ready to peel it off, it is much easier. During the 15-20 minute wait, the mask is still very cooling. I also feel a slight tightening sensation.

Peeling the mask off is so fun! I make faces to loosen the mask a little, and start peeling away. It seems like it has hardened on the outer layer, but on the inner layer, you can feel a little moistness. It was like removing rubber, such an interesting and fun experience!

 look, rubber!

Afterwards, my face feels amazingly soft and moisturized, pores look smaller, and I do notice a healthy glow. This is definitely a great product to try from home! It turns out to be about $6.33 a mask to do it from home. It costs about $15-35 to do different masks at their spas. I'm all for saving money :]

Review: Elizabeth Arden Hydrating Mask

What is it?
A hydrating and intensively moisturizing mask.

Retail Price: $17.50

Where to buy: www.elizabetharden.com

My thoughts and experience:
The product is available in a squeeze tube, which I find very convenient. It has a very rich, thick, and creamy texture. I find that it spreads easily and evenly, and is not sticky or gloppy. I spread a thick layer, using two fingers to apply on my face. It has a minty, eucalyptus scent. It's amazing when it sits on my face, it's extremely cooling. After 10 minutes, I rinse it off. I would recommend using a face towel to rinse it with water. I tried to tissue it off as stated in the instructions, but that didn't work out very well.

Afterwards, my face feels moisturized and has a "squeeky clean" feeling to it. I use it once or twice a week when my face is feeling really dry. I actually purchased this product a while back at Marshalls for $5.99! It's a great buy, I would definitely recommend it.

Review: Purederm Green Tea Collagen Mask

What is it?
From the packaging -
  • Easy and effective skin recovery treatment formulated with green tea extracts, collagen, and vitamin E.
  • This silky mask helps maintain ideal moisture level of the skin by providing a constant supply of moisture and nutrition.
  • Natural pulp sheet prevents skin trouble and provides close adhesion to the face.

Price: I got these for $1 each. They are available on Amazon and Ebay at different pricings.

My thoughts:
This is my first time to ever try a face sheet mask. My sister keeps raving about them, and has been asking me to search for some when I go to an Asian cosmetic store. I finally found these at an indoors "farmers market". I didn't know what to expect at all, so I picked up a few different ones to try out. The packaging is sealed tightly, so that moisture stays in. I carefully unfolded the thin cloth-like mask, poked out the eye holes, and gently patted it around my face. It fitted my face very well, except for the nose part. I already have a very tiny nose, and still, the nose portion was not large enough to cover my entire nose.  I immediately felt a cooling sensation after "the fitting". It wasn't a tingling sensation, it was more like taking a bunch of cold cucumbers and placing them on my face.  I thought this cooling sensation would just stay for a minute or so, but it was like this for the entire 20 minutes this mask was on. Not only is this mask soothing and cool, it was very hydrating, it stayed "wet" the entire time. Peeling it off was no problem at all, it came right off without any pain whatsoever. I am extremely impressed with the results, because I did not know my skin could feel this soft, supple, and smooth. It works wonders, I had to go back and get more.

These are some of the other ones that I picked up:

Aloe collagen mask - visibly hydrates and soothes to bring skin back into youth.
Pearl essence mask - tone and rejuvenate complexion, clear blemishes, minimize pores, reduce skin redness.
Mineral water collagen mask - provides intense moisturization and mineral support on dry skin.
Illuminating arbutin mask - quickly clarifies skin for a brighter, pearly, translucent complexion.
Rice bran collagen mask - penetrate into the skin gently and rapidly to keep a brighter, smoother and healthier skin.
Raspberry collagen mask - provides rich nutrition and intense moisture on tired skin.

Packaging: 8 out of 10

Ease of use: 9 out of 10

Product: 10 out of 10

Price: 10 out of 10

I saw a couple of Purederm masks at Forever 21, however, these were clay masks. Then I saw some sheet masks at CVS, but they were almost $2 a pack. I think US is starting to catch up with the Asian market on this.

Have you tried face sheet masks before?  What are your thoughts on them? Thanks for reading and sharing!
