Review: Maybelline New York Baby Lips lip balm

What is it?
Moisturizing lip balm with SPF 20, moisturizes lips for for a full 8 hours, visibly renewed lips in 4 weeks.

Retail Price: $2.99

Where to buy: Most retailers and drugstores.

Pink Punch, Cherry Me

My thoughts and experience:
I love the fun and simple packaging of these lip balms! They look so retro and colorful. I will be reviewing the  Cherry Me and Pink Punch flavors.
Cherry Me is a fun cherry tinted lip balm, which smells like dried cherries. I'm not big into the cherry flavored things, but this one smelled very light and pleasant. It adds a bit of color to my lips to brighten it up a little. Pink Punch is a soft barbie pink tinted lip balm with a light fruit punch scent. Both colors show up with a tinted sheen of color.

The lip balms glide on really easily when applied to "healthy lips"; the color stays on for a good 2-3 hours.

Although it says that it is clinical strength, along with lip renewal, I did not see this happening. When applied on a dried flaky lip, the color shows up in patches and does not look give a healthy look at all. I also did not see "renewal" results, nor the 8 hour moisture as claimed. I would probably reapply about every hour or so.
I would give this a 2.5 out of 5 stars because of this issue. Other than that, when applied on healthy looking lips, they add an amazing tint color and stays on for a decent amount of time. I would highly recommend using it over another lip balm though.

Review: Smashbox Limitless Beauty Kit

What is it?
"You asked for stay-put products, we’re delivering in one must-have kit. It’s all you’ll need to stay chic from dawn till dusk—no reapplying necessary. Free step-by-step guide."

Retail Price: $39.00

Where to buy: www.smashbox.com

My thoughts and experience:
Photo Finish foundation primer:
This stuff is amazing! All you need is a small pea size amount, less is more in this case. Once I apply the primer on my clean face, I can immediately feel the smoothness and velvety feeling upon touch. It created an invisible layer, and it helped my foundation stay on much longer! I usually have to blot a couple of times a day, but with the primer, I blot once during a whole work shift (usually 8+ hours). It makes my skin appear smoother and also make up application easier. This is definitely something I will use over and over!

Limitless Beauty Eye Shadow Palette & Brush:
I like the different neutral colors offered in this palette. To me, it seems like I could do more night looks than I would with day looks - alot of neutral and smokey eyes, that's for sure. The eyeshadows stayed on without creasing into each other for about 4 hours without primer and over 10 hours with a primer. I mainly used the brush to apply shadow to upper and lower lash lines only because it was such a little brush.

Left to Right -
Matte vanilla: used on brow bone for highlight, color is not pigmented, very light and barely visible.
Rose Copper: used on lid, shimmery and has a metallic effect, pigmented, has slight fall out.
Purple Taupe: used on outer corner, upper and lower lash line, has a slight shimmer, very pigmented.
Champagne: used on lid, shimmery and has a metallic effect, pigmented, has slight fall out.
Matte brown: used on outer corner, upper and lower lash line, matte, very pigmented.

Limitless Eye Liner in Java:
The eyeliner is a smooth, coffee brown color. It goes very well with my brown eyes (with or without eyeshadow). I love that it doesn't smudge and can easily stay on well over 8 hours.

Blush Rush in Everlasting:
A soft, happy pink color. It's a buildable blush color that is easy to blend with a brush. It doesn't look cakey at all and looks very natural. This color is suited for people with light to medium complexions, as it is not very pigmented.

Limitless Long Wear Lip Gloss SPF 15 in 'Round-the-Clock:
A light pink lip gloss. The wand applicator makes it easy to apply on lips. The formula is not thick, but it is definitely sticky and glossy. I think this is more suited for people with light complexion, as the color doesn't really show up on my lips very much. This goes very well with the palette that is included in the set. It stays on for a good 6 hours without eating/drinking.

Tada!!~
I used all of these products included in the beauty kit to finish this look. I also used foundation, eye primer, and mascara that was not included.

Review: Lip Savvy gloss in OMG

What is it?
Lip Savvy! glosses offer total free radical protection, multiple collagen-boosting properties, prevention and correction of lines and wrinkles, instant and long-term painless plumping, and intense hydration. These glosses incorporate modern skincare and color technologies to give lips a fighting chance in the battle against aging.

Lip Savvy! glosses come in two formulas: ColorGlam (12 colors) offers a matte, creamy finish to lips and Star Studded Shine (10 colors) to radiate with intense sparkle and multi-dimensional shine.

Retail price: $18.00

Where to buy: www.belipsavvy.com , www.jeanecosmetics.com

My thoughts and experience:
I received the color OMG from the Star Studded line. The packaging is flirty and colorful, very unique and different from most lip glosses. It requires you to twist the other end to get some gloss out into the brush. The brush is soft and easy to use. I find that it makes applying more precise. For me, 1-2 twists is enough to get some gloss out. It has a light scent and taste, but nothing too obvious. The formula is a little thick and sticky. I find that it is also surprisingly smooth and hydrating while on my lips. I don't have to worry about it cracking my lips with this gloss on.

It is a sparkly and glittery hot pink color. You can apply it lightly for a cute, girly lip; and you can apply a thicker layer for a sassy, fun look. I find that it stays on for over 6 hours without eating. After eating, the color has disappeared a little, but the glitter is still present.

I do not notice much plumping of the lips, and I can't really say anything about the anti-aging part yet.

I'll definitely continue using this fun and sparkly lip gloss.

Thin layer of lip gloss

Thick layer of lip gloss

Thanks for reading :]

Review: Aquaphor Lip Repair

What is it?
Aquaphor® Lip Therapy provides effective, long-lasting relief for  dry lips.  Aquaphor is a superior choice because it works by creating a protective barrier that conditions lips as it prevents moisture loss.  It protects and helps heal dry, cracked lips to keep them smooth and healthy.

Retail Price: $4.29

Where to buy: Most drugstores nationwide.

My thoughts and experience:
This product has a very informative package. The squeeze tube and the slanted opening makes it easy for product to come out, and easy to apply directly on your lips. I purchased this product during the Spring time, and I wish I had known about it during the Winter months.

My lips are so dried and chapped during that time, this would have really come in handy. This product helps prevent and heal chapped lips. It's goes on clear, and does not have any smell or taste. I find that it is very lightweight. It does such a great job protecting my lips, the whole tube is gone already! I usually reapply every 3 to 4 hours, or as needed. It always leaves my lips feeling soft and renewed.

This is definitely something that I will repurchase over and over again.

What is it?
A lip balm any bunny would love, Crazy Rumors Plum Apricot Bunny Balm - an amazing fusion of fruits at its finest.

My thoughts: I always feel so much closer to nature when I wear something that is vegan and natural, oh how I love it! It has a dried apricot scent when applied. It has no taste, which is something I prefer - that way I am not tempted to lick it off, lol. It is lightweight and creamy. It goes on smoothly on my lips, and keeps it very moisturized. Oh! It was made in Georgia too :] I like supporting local sellers.

Overall, I would recommend this product for anyone looking for a good, moisturizing lip balm. They have a variety of other lip balm flavors.

Have you guys tried this product?

Review: eos Lip Balm Smooth Spheres - Honeysuckle Honeydew

What is it?
"eos lip balm is 95% organic, 100% natural, and paraben and petrolatum free. Packed with antioxidant-rich vitamin E, soothing shea butter and jojoba oil, eos keeps your lips moist, soft and sensationally smooth." - eos website

Price: $3.29

Where to buy: Walmart, Target, CVS, Walgreens, Rite Aid, evolutionofsmooth.com

My thoughts: A very interesting spherical egg-shaped packaging - a little bulkier than other lip balms I've tried, definitely unique though. It has a light honeydew scent, and certainly tastes like it too. I pucker up my lips to apply this, and it gets it in two swipes. Don't let the lightweight and natural feel fool you, it contains shea butter and jojoba oil. Yet, I do not feel the thickness of it when I press my lips together. This eos lip balm makes a really good lip primer. I noticed that when I use this with lipstick, the color of the lipstick shows up really well. I would say that it helps keep my lips soft, smooth, and moist; however, it did not heal my chapped or dry lips. There are 5 different flavors to choose from - summer fruit, lemon drop, honeysuckle honey dew, medicated tangerine, and sweet mint.

See how natural it looks?

Packaging: 8 out of 10
Ease of use: 10 out of 10
Product claims: 10 out of 10
Price: 7 out of 10

Have you guys tried the eos lip balms?  What are your favorite flavors?

Guess what? CVS has a secret (well... unadvertised) extra bucks on eos lip balms this week! Buy it for $2.99 and get $2.99 extra bucks. Ends 2/26/11.

Review: Hard Candy Plumping Serum Volumizing Lip Gloss - Nude Beach

What is it?
Plumping Serum lip gloss will give you the biggest, sexiest lips possible without a doctor's visit. Sheer color, outrageous shine.  - Hard Candy website.

Price: $4.80 - $8 available at Walmart.

My thoughts: I adore the packaging of this lip gloss, it's so girly and fun! The sponge tip applicator is easy to use. I've never owned anything that would "volumize" my lips because I happen to have a very full lips already, hehe. So when I received this to try out, I was really excited to see the outcome.  The color is a beautiful sheer shimmery color, with very little pay off, which is perfect for a nude lip. The consistency and texture is a little bit sticky and a little bit thick. I feel a light tingling sensation when the lip gloss is on. This sensation usually last anywhere between 2-4 hours. This color can be worn over your lipstick or alone. I really like to wear it alone because it makes my lips look like it has this beautiful healthy pout to it. The plumping part is very minimal, as far as I can tell. I've done some before and after pictures so you can see what I mean. Overall, I think this is a good lip gloss, but not a plumper.

Have you guys tried these?

Review: Covergirl's NatureLuxe Gloss Balm [Hibiscus and Clay]

I was very excited when I saw that Taylor Swift was the model for Covergirl's newest line of cosmetic products - NatureLuxe. Even the name of the line sounds cool. I picked these up at CVS a couple of weeks back. Check it out ~

What is it?
"Get the sheer color and shine of a gloss with the soft, lightweight feel of SPF 15 balm. Fortified with mango and shea butter, this feel-good formula leaves your lips feeling decadent and delicious". 16 shades available. - Covergirl website

Retail price: $5.99-$7.49

My thoughts:
I like the sturdy packaging of these gloss balms. The colors are shown through the clear top cover which is easy to pop open and close. It has a light "lipstick smell" over the lightly pleasant berry scent. I love that it is very lightweight and moisturizing like a lip balm, but offers a light shine like a lip gloss [hence the name, gloss balm]. Hibiscus is a rosey pink-mauve color, and Clay is more of an honey apricot color with a hint of frost when applied. The gloss balms go on smoothly and is not sticky. It has a very "natural" look to it and is great for those days when you don't want to wear a lipstick or a shiny gloss. I usually have to reapply every four hours or so to keep the color and moisture. Oh yeah, it also has SPF 15!

Would I recommend it?: Yes, it's great for those days where you just want a light hint of color on your lips. I would also recommend it to people who are not a fan of lipsticks or sticky lip gloss, but is looking for a little color on the lips.

Will you be trying these?

Review: LipZipz Lip Balms

I received 6 LipZipz lip balms from No Loss Products last week, and had the chance try out each flavor.

What is it?
"LipZipz is the most advanced lip care container available today. Beautifully designed and built into every LipZipz lip balm container is a patented integrated recoiler and hook. The integrated recoiler provides eighteen (18) inches of string length. The hook is designed to quickly and easily attach the tube of lip balm to items such as keys, coats, jackets, backpacks, purses, belt loops and more.
LipZipz is petroleum free. Each tube of LipZipz lip balm contains the highest quality natural ingredients. LipZipz does not contain any petroleum based ingredients. SPF sunscreen ingredients have been added to the base natural ingredients to provide protection against the harmful effects of the sun." - No Loss Products website

My thoughts:
The packaging is very neat, it came 3 in a box, and then the 3 lip balms were also individually wrapped. I couldn't wait to open them, I was so intrigued when I was reading about the hook and recoiler. These lip balms are just a little bit larger in size compared to other lip balms.
I have one hooked to my lanyard for work, one to my set of keys, one in my purse, one on my keyboard line, one in my vanity room, and one by my bed. It's so convenient because I don't have to remind myself to apply lip balm. I just see it, and remember to apply. I appreciate the fact that they make flavored/unflavored and scented/unscented lip balms. Instead of twisting the bottom part, you twist the top to get more product out.
Another unique thing about LipZipz is the flip cover. You don't pull off the cover like most lip balms, it's a little cap attached to the lip balm! This way, you won't ever lose or drop your cap. The cap tends to hit my nose or chin when applying though.

I love that it has SPF 15, made of natural ingredients, and is SO moisturizing. This winter has been so harsh on my lips to the point of it cracking and peeling. However, with the use of LipZipz this week, my lips feel softer and no more cracking. When I rub my lips together, I can feel the thickness and moisture of the product. The lip balms were easy to apply and went on smoothly. The formula is so wonderful!

These are the 6 flavors that I tried -
Pink Shimmer : Has a frosty/shimmer light pink finish. I like to add a plain lip gloss on top of this to give it some sparkles.
Kiss - a tantalizing berry: Light sweet flavor, smells like berry tea.
Frost - a brisk peppermint: A light hint of peppermint scent, no taste to it, you can definitely feel the tingling sensation when you use this one.
Twist - a refreshing citrus: Smells like lemon meringue pie, it has a sweet but zesty lemon taste.
Naked - premium unflavored: No taste or smell to this one.
Surf - refreshing pina colada: Light sweet flavor, and smells like a tropical fruit.

click on pics to enlarge

Would I recommend this?
Yes, definitely would recommend this for both children and adults. I don't think I will ever lose them, or even have to dig through my make up bag/purse to find my lip balm ever again! LipZipz are a new revolution!
