First Look: Phillips Satin Perfect epilator

This is a first look into the Phillips Satin Perfect epilator. I wanted to share my experience while using this epilator for the very first time. I've never used an epilator before, not many people have. So for those of you who are not quite sure what it is, an epilator is this device that acts like a many tweezers in one. The purpose of it is to grab and pull out the hair quickly as you glide it through your skin.
I carefully read the instructions thoroughly because I don't want to have any mishaps. The instructions were pretty clear, it tells you what piece goes where and what it does. While the epilator was charging, I took a hot shower to help open and loosen the pores. It's supposed to help with grasping the hair and pulling it out.

Anyway, I get the correct head piece to use for first timers. When you turn on the machine, it makes a buzzing sound, and the things in the middle start to spin. I slowly glide the device against the direction of hair growth. There's a little light on it that helps you see. My first time was painful, I'm not gonna lie. It felt like a bunch of tweezers pulling out my hair at once, or worse, waxing in slow motion. I tried it on my legs, and it hurt like heck! I had to turn on some music to try to distract myself.  The epilator had a harder time grasping the thinner hairs, so after I was done with my legs, I could still feel a couple of prickles. It looked like some of the hair was "shaved" off instead of pulled out.

After 14 days, the hair has grown back, however, it didn't seem to be as thick. I've tried it on my underarms but that kind of pain is a whole other topic. I'm going to keep using this and do a full review with before and after pics on a later post (maybe...I'm not sure if you guys want to see hair like that, lol).

Have you tried epilating? What are your thoughts on it?

  2. That was a super interesting post! I'm such a coward when it comes to waxing or things like that, the only thing I can do is shaving and use depilatory lotions LOL!

  5. Back in the day, I had an EpiLady...OMG, I think tweezing hair by hair with a crappy pair of tweezers would have hurt less!!! I'm like you,I kept it up for a while and now there are patches on my legs that the hair never grew back(that's a good thing, I think...hahaha)
I tried once under my arms, notice I said once...And the bikini line, well....I don't wear a bikini that often anyway
This was back in the 80's and I was much younger and tougher and hang-gliding and bungee jumping and skydiving and doin' all those crazy things, so the EpiLady was just another one of those "crazy things"
It was NOT one of my favs...
